Andalyne

“it’s a unique reflection of who I am and what I love.”

Andalyne’s hemp wedding dress displayed various plants & animals to represent the four seasons.

Andalyne recaptures her wedding day:

“We were married in a country garden, beneath the boughs of a 250-year old maple tree, outside of Erin, Ontario. Our ceremony was very personalized so it would have the most meaning to us, and included a handfasting in the traditional Celtic style. It was simply a very special day for both of us, and I cherished every minute of it. All my friends and family said they had such a good time, and this was just as important to me as it was for me to enjoy the day. We asked friends of ours in a bluegrass band to play for us, and they even invited me up on stage to play a song on my mandolin with them! There was hors d’ouevres, music, dancing, and a campfire at the end of the night where friends sang and played their instruments.”

“I chose plants and animals for my dress that each mean something to me and my relationship with my husband. Before Richard and I walked the rest of the way down the aisle, I spun a couple of times for everyone to admire my dress. It’s one I’ll wear again, and every time it will bring back beautiful memories. I also wanted Tara Lynn to make a matching shirt for Richard because one of the first things I felt when we were growing together was that our souls were “cut from the same cloth.”

“People love my dress; they admire it for its unique beauty, and they love how it is for me. Yet the most important thing is how much it means to me. It’s not just any dress that anyone could have bought or worn; it’s a unique reflection of who I am and what I love.”

“Friends exclaimed over how realistic the flowers and insects were, amazed at the amount of detail to the point of being able to accurately identify things. They loved the different textures and various materials that went into making each plant and animal. It was so cool to have three-dimensional artwork, like the fuzzy caterpillar which I fully encouraged my guests to touch and feel for themselves (they didn’t need much convincing).”

“We said our vows to each other as the butterflies visited the flowers around us, dragonflies zoomed over our heads, and the blue jays called from the tree tops.”
